We were feeling a bit adventurous this weekend an thought we would go on a last minute camping trip. While we did not plan and organize very well, the trip actually turned out great! It started with me driving to Altus on Friday to meet James, which was nice since I had not seen him in a week! James called around and found a few campsites. We ended up going to Lake Latonka (about 45 mins from Altus) and it was so beautiful, way prettier than I ever thought Oklahoma could be! We brought Frankie and Lola along to see how they would do and surprisingly, they did well! Lola did eat he weight in SAND and Frank go a bit on an infection (probably) from the water, on his recent neuter surgery. Aside from that it was really a fun experience. After our night in the woods (on the lake shore) we decided to visit the Wichita Wildlife refuge which was not far from where we were and on the way back to Altus. There are Buffalo, Long horns, Prairie Dogs, Mountain Elk and all kinds of big game walking around on this refuge AND... there are no gates or fences, so you are right next to them! Have you ever seen a buffalo in person, how about 20 feet away?! There heads are bigger than my car.... not really, but close! At one point I was out of the car taking up close pictures of the prairie dogs when James was yelling at me to get in the car, well I didn't realize it but there was a heard of longhorns running my direction! I think they were just ready for their closeup... It was a very educational journey and we had a nice picnic in the woods on the refuge before we headed back!

Ahhh! I love these pictures - you & your baby belly look amazing and Franklin & Lola look like they had the most fun ever! And I'm mad that you saw Elk. I friggen drove through the whole state of OK and all with all their elk crossing signs & elk-named cities, you would have thought I'd see one. Negative! Glad you had fun in the woods though :)
Look at you, pregnant girl!! All the pictures are awesome! What a fun family weekend.
